Accommodation

Important Notes

1. Participants will be housed in the 3-person or 4-person rooms at the HSUHK Jockey Club Residential Colleges; each with a built-in washroom and shower unit and equipped with loft beds, bookshelves, chairs, wardrobes, a fan and an air-conditioning system.
2. Participants may stay in the common room on each floor where television, drinking fountain and microwave oven are provided.
3. Air-conditioners and WI-FI are available.
4. Participants are suggested to prepare for their own hygiene supplies, tissue, clothes, jackets, slippers, personal medicine, stationery, empty bottles and other necessary items.

Application and Fee

Eligibility

  • Local S.4 to S.6 students in Academic Year 2018/19; or
  • Local students pursuing another equivalent curriculum e.g. International Baccalaureate (IB) or GCE-AL
  • S.5 students will be given the priority of enrollment
 

Application

Application Method︰ Application should be submitted by your secondary school
Quota︰ Maximum 10 students can be nominated by each school
Application Deadline︰ 26 April 2019 (Fri)
Announcement of Result︰ Application results will be announced in early May 2019.
 

Participation Fee

HKD700 for each participant covers the tuition fee, meals, accommodation, group personal accident insurance and certificate of attendance.
 

Important Notes

  1. Upon completion of application procedures, all confirmed places are non-transferable.
  2. Applicants who would like to withdraw from the HSUHK Summer Academy 2019 should email (sa@hsu.edu.hk) us as soon as possible. No cash will be refunded under any circumstances once the place is confirmed with participation fee paid.
  3. No cash will be refunded for applicants unable to participate in or complete the event because of personal reasons, issuance of Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above, or issuance of Red / Black Rainstorm Signal during the event.
  4. No cash will be refunded for absentees, late-comers or early-leavers.
  5. HSUHK should refund the participation fee to participants if the event being cancelled by HSUHK. Notification email will be sent to all participants in due course.

FAQ

Programme and Activities
1. Can I choose academic activities under different groups?
No. All participants will be classed in one of the groups and attend the academic activities under the same group.  
2. Are there any homework, tests or examinations?
No. The academic activities are primarily conducted in the mode of demo lecture, game or workshop. Participants need to complete the worksheets, group discussions or group presentations in class only.
3. Are the after class activities compulsory?
Participants have to join either one of the after class activities to experience the diversified university life.
4. Can I use other HSUHK facilities during the event?
Partially. You can use the Sports Hall, table tennis room and outdoor multipurpose playground during the free time. Rental service of basketball, table tennis rackets, badminton rackets and shuttlecock are available.
5. I have not taken any Business subjects like Economics or Business, Accounting and Financial Studies. Can I join this event?
There is no prerequisite for the event. Participants studying different electives are welcome.
Accommodation and Meals
6. Do I need to reside in the Residential Colleges?
Yes. All participants are required to reside in the HSUHK Jockey Club Residential Colleges.
7. Can I choose the room or my roommate?
No. We will assign room and roommates for all participants.
8. Is there any free WI-FI?
Yes. Free WI-FI is available. Participants are kindly advised to take good care of their own properties such as the communication devices.
9. What personal belongings should I prepare?
You are highly advised to bring your own stationery, empty bottle, jacket, clothes and slippers, hygiene supplies, personal medicine and other necessary items. Please dress properly during the whole event.
10. Do I need to prepare my daily meals?
All meals will be provided by HSUHK. You may prepare your own snacks if needed.
11. I have serious food allergy; can I have special meal arrangement?
Yes. Please indicate your situation and special needs clearly by completing the declaration form which will be released together with the confirmation letter. We will contact you for further discussion in due course.
Application and Participation Fee
12. Can I withdraw if I have confirmed another study tour after paying for the HSUHK Summer Academy 2019?
Yes. You can withdraw from the event by sending us email (sa@hsmc.edu.hk) as soon as possible. Once the place is confirmed with participation fee paid, no cash will be refunded for any personal reasons.
13. Are there any credit transfer or credit exemption if I am admitted to HSUHK undergraduate programmes?
No credit transfer nor credit exemption will be arranged for Summer Academy participants when they are admitted to HSUHK undergraduate programmes in future.
